Large Format Printing FAQs

A large format printer is a specialized printer designed to handle print jobs that are too large for standard desktop printers. These printers are capable of producing high-quality prints on large sheets of paper or other media, and are often used for creating posters, blueprints, banners, and other large graphics. Our printers use modern, cutting edge technology to ensure your printing needs are met.

Large format printing and wide format printing are often used interchangeably. Both refer to printing methods that handle larger-than-standard print sizes, typically for professional, industrial, or commercial use. The main difference lies in the specific size ranges they cover, with wide format printing usually referring to slightly smaller prints than large format. AZ Overland Blueprint specializes in both large format printing and wide format printing for small business owners and those who don’t own a small business.

When preparing a file for large format printing, it’s important to ensure the resolution is high enough (at least 300 dpi) to avoid pixelation. Files should be saved in a format that preserves quality, such as PDF or TIFF. Additionally, make sure that all images and text are within the safe printing area and that the colors are set correctly.

The best size for a large print depends on its intended use. Common large print sizes include 24” x 36” for posters or blueprints, but prints can be as large as needed, depending on the project requirements. Our team can help you determine the ideal size for your specific needs.

PNG files can be used for large format printing, but they may not be the best option for very large prints due to the potential loss of quality when scaled. For optimal results, we recommend using PDF, TIFF, or high-resolution JPEG formats when wide format printing.

Large format printing typically refers to any print that is larger than 18 inches in width. Common wide format sizes include 24” x 36” for blueprints or posters, but prints can go much larger, depending on the printer and the project.

Yes, you can create various types of signs and advertisements using our wide format printing services. Through advanced technology, we offer the ability to create custom gallery walls, signs for events, foam board prints, and advertisements that reflect your individual style and unforgettable moments.

Proper care and handling of wide format prints and print materials are essential to ensure their quality and longevity. For example, canvas prints should be allowed to cure flat for 24 hours prior to hanging, folding, or rolling.

Using matte paper for large format printing posters provides a 35.5″ printable area and offers a specific aesthetic that many users prefer over glossy options. Matte paper is a great choice for achieving a professional look for your printed materials.
